Biography

Shouta Aoi, born August 11, 1987, is a Japanese singer and actor whose recording career began in 2006 under the name Showta with the single "Negaiboshi" on King Records, followed by the 2008 album Eve. After parting with his agency in 2009 he issued material independently as Noboru Ryugaki, then relaunched his music under his current name with the 2013 EP Blue Bird, the 2014 release "Virginal," and the 2015 album Unlimited, all produced by Elements Garden. He stepped onto the stage in 2009 as Saki Hanajima in the Fruits Basket musical and has since appeared in productions such as Persona 3: The Weird Masquerade. Voice work began in 2011, and Ai Mikaze in Uta no Prince-sama brought him wide attention, with later roles including Hideaki Tojo in Ace of Diamond, Monet Tsukushi in Magic-kyun! Renaissance, Rui Minazuki in Tsukiuta, Louis Kisaragi in King of Prism, and Licht von Glanzreich in The Royal Tutor. His light, high register and androgynous presence let him take female parts as well.
