Biography

Yohei Tadano, born March 10, 1962 in Fukuoka Prefecture, is a Japanese actor and voice actor. Drawn to performance as a child, he took part in a stage production at Okinawa's Jean Jean festival while enrolled at the University of the Ryukyus, worked briefly in sales after graduating, and then moved through several theater companies before entering the Theater Echo Training Institute in 1988 and gaining troupe membership in 1994. His voice work began in 1993 with the Japanese dub of the film The Saint of Fort Washington; foreign-film dubbing dominated his early credits until anime work opened up in 2006 with Hime-sama Goyojin. Because his voice recalls that of the late Yasuo Yamada, he was chosen to dub Clint Eastwood in restored footage for television versions of For a Few Dollars More and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, and his range extends from Nucky Thompson in Boardwalk Empire to comic villains such as King Candy in Wreck-It Ralph, Heinz Doofenshmirtz in Phineas and Ferb, and Mr. Smee in Jake and the Never Land Pirates. Kitakyushu City named him a tourism ambassador on February 27, 2019.
