Morning Mist

Synopsis

Early morning, Saeki heads to school. The dawn-tinged sky, the cold air. On a quiet winter morning, the "Ave Maria" streaming from his earphones stirs memories of his mother back in Germany, in his childhood. The voice of his mother, an opera singer, which he listened to every day like a lullaby. The feeling of practicing the violin because he wanted her to hear him. Mr. Ayukawa says that even memories we one day forget eventually become part of who we are. Having grasped something, Saeki—in a cold that recalls his homeland of Germany—plays in unison with Aono.
