Future GPX Cyber Formula S2E1: The Car Number of Glory

Ep. 1

The Car Number of Glory

📅 November 1, 1992

Synopsis

2016, the opening of the 11th Cyber Formula WGPX. The previous year's champion, Hayato Kazami, was also aiming for victory at the opener, having made modifications to Asurada, the championship machine. But the rival teams rolled out machines superior to Asurada. Unable to keep up with his rivals, Hayato ends the opener and round 2 without scoring. And in round 3, obsessed with winning and gripped by anxiety, Hayato drives recklessly, blows his engine, and retires. Fallen behind in the title fight, Hayato vents his anger at the members, who were struggling to improve the performance. Self-reproach as the previous year's champion. Heartless bashing, words from friends and rivals. The pressure weighs heavily on Hayato, still immature as a driver and as a person. Dispirited, Hayato asks Asurada: 'is it fine if someone other than me becomes your driver?'. Asurada replies: 'winning or losing doesn't matter. It's enough to race with you and to be able to chase the same dream as you.' With Asurada's words, Hayato realizes he had loved racing with Asurada. Round 4, a race in the rain where the teams struggle to give their all. Having regained his fighting spirit, Hayato flies with Asurada and recovers positions. The members worry over the pace Hayato sets, but he was calmly controlling the machine and himself. Racing all out as a challenger, Hayato, on the final corner, uses the Effect Fan and passes the leader Randoll. And he claims, at last, his long-awaited first points of the season. And Osamu Sugo, together with a certain woman, was watching that Hayato.
