Ep. 8
To the Respective Future
Synopsis
Final round of the 13th WGP. Kaga makes a mistake at the start and falls far behind. Caught up in it, Hiyoshi and Gudelhian, in the new Schtiel, touch and retire. Randoll, the so-called Rosenkreuz, leads with driving that betrays no pause; Hayato too fights hard with the Zero Zone and the Inertial Drift, but his worn nerves take greater damage than expected and he spins. As he is passed one after another, Kaga's Experion — which had started poorly and dropped down the order — comes flying. With an astonishing charge, Kaga overtakes Henri and resets the race to square one. Rain begins to fall and, while the other teams switch to rain tires one after another, Hayato delays his switch to rain tires by one lap and closes the gap to the leader. After a battle, Henri and Randoll go off the track. Randoll retires; Henri, returning to the pits, climbs out of her machine saying 'there's no point running any more' and tries to quit. But, scolded by Osamu and told by Hayato, who has pitted, to 'follow me,' she returns to the race, hesitant. Witnessing Hayato's superhuman driving, she recalls the words he said the previous night: 'what do you run for?'. And when Henri enters the win zone and need only hold position, Hayato accelerates again to hold off Kaga. Exhausted, Hayato races on with the single wish to beat Kaga, but struggles against Shinjo's flawless blocking. Then Henri arrives to hold off Shinjo. With her backup, Hayato passes Shinjo and finally catches the leader Kaga. The two, within the Zero Zone, race on beyond their limits. And to settle it, they head for the final corner. Hayato pulls off a double Inertial Drift and passes Kaga. Both summon their last strength toward the finish. And, touching and skidding, they plunge across the line. After a deadly battle, Hayato edges out Kaga, and as a result, Henri is crowned world champion of the 13th edition.
