Ep. 20
A Tiny Rescue Target
Synopsis
At a house in a residential area, a fire breaks out from the wiring of a solar panel. The resulting insulation failure was causing arc discharge. The Fuwa Fire Station's Special Rescue Squad arrives on scene and, after hearing from neighbors that the homeowner was away, carries out firefighting. But they discover a family had been left inside. Since the day was clear, the solar panel kept generating power, and the water-soaked interior was dangerous with a risk of electrocution. Daigo decides to go in and shut down the power-generation system. With information from the homeowner, who rushed over, Daigo manages to find the junction box and succeeds in shutting down the system. Wading through water that still carried current, what Daigo finds is Mei, the family's beloved cat. With Mei rescued, the water spraying safely resumes. A few days earlier, having seen Daigo's room with nothing but 'rescue' in it, Shun had felt sorry that he carries the burden of his parent's crime. But seeing the homeowner couple thank them for rescuing Mei just as they would a human victim, Shun changes his mind: becoming a rescue worker is simply Daigo's nature, and perhaps, like himself, he loves this job. Meanwhile, Hibiki was at the training facility, all dressed up. To Yuki's question, 'Wait, is it a date?', Hibiki answers 'It's work' and leaves. Where Hibiki went was a bar, and beside him was Matoi. The topics were Yuki, gripes about Amakasu, and 'Megumi.' Hibiki had been investigating the existence of 'Megumi' together with Matoi. Many things, including 'Megumi,' are in motion toward July two years from now. Thinking that Amakasu's actions stem from him having 'come to know' something, Matoi invited Hibiki to lie in wait at the bar Amakasu frequents.
