Ep. 22
Dust Explosion
Synopsis
With an off-season transfer decided, Yamagami is set to leave the Fuwa rescue team. On his last day of duty, many people who admire him had gathered. Then they get a special dispatch to a printing-factory fire said to have numerous people in need of rescue. According to the first-arriving unit, the victims are unable to escape for some reason. On top of that, word comes that powdered material is stored inside the building. If it keeps burning and the fire reaches the powder kicked up into the air, a dust explosion could occur. The Fuwa team is assigned to search-and-rescue the second floor together with the Komai company. They manage to get out everyone the factory had on its attendance list, and learn that the powdered material—the worrying factor—is strictly secured in the material storeroom. All that's left is to wait for the water to put out the fire…… Then Shun notices a change in the smoke coming from the exhaust vent. Is the powdered material that was supposedly confirmed safe being sucked into the duct? But the exhaust duct isn't connected to the storeroom. Smoke mixed with powder gushes out forcefully. Since there's now a chance it could ignite inside the duct, the team is forced to temporarily withdraw until safety is confirmed. But Shun ignores the order and re-enters, saying only 'there's someone inside!' 'There's no time,' says Daigo as he goes after him. Yamagami orders them back, but Shun stops answering the radio. An evacuation door that won't open unnaturally, flames that are hard to put out, and powder that shouldn't enter the duct unless someone moved it. 'It's highly likely someone set the fire and then bought time until the dust explosion would occur,' Daigo radios Yamagami and the others. Since the smoke's color changed partway through, the culprit must be hiding inside the factory. As the time limit to the dust explosion closes in, can Shun and Daigo escape safely?!
