Winner's Terms

Synopsis

Kyoko visits Nagumo's villa and demands an explanation. Nagumo chides her but conveys Kaga's state of mind. Precisely because she knows Kaga is obsessed with the decisive showdown against Hayato, Kyoko can say nothing more. Hayato retires from rounds 4 and 5 with engine trouble. In round 6, he can't even start the race. In rounds 7 and 8, he retires one after another. Kaga, too, tries somehow to tame the Ogre, but gets no satisfying results. Watching this, Asuka and Kyoko are far from at ease. Thanks to the GIO staff, who worked through the night to resolve the troubles, Asurada is revived in round 9. Meanwhile, Kaga couldn't come to terms with the Ogre. Nagumo appears before him again and tells him: 'The Ogre should have already conveyed it to you.' And round 11 arrives. From Nagumo's words, Kaga realizes the key to victory lies in the corners. Continuing razor's-edge battles within the Zero Zone, he finally perfects the 'Mirage Turn,' an astonishing cornering that creates an illusion in the driver. But, with his accumulated physical and mental exhaustion, Kaga, already at his limit, blacks out at the very moment he is about to pass Hayato and retires.
