LIFTING TURN

Synopsis

Round 6. The new Asurada drew attention not only from the press but from the other teams. After qualifying, Hayato declares to Kaga: 'I'll run my own race. That's the only way to win. I'm going to win.' The race. Climbing the order with in-form driving, Hayato closes on Kaga in 2nd. And, using the Spiral Boost — a kind of second boost newly installed by Clair — he passes Kaga. Hayato catches Phil. But Leon, trying to avoid Asurada, touches the Alzard, and both retire. Hayato evades Leon and Phil with the Drift Turn, the mid-air direction-change he has just mastered, brilliantly takes the lead, and scores his first win of the season. Hayato wins one after another from rounds 7 to 10. The Sugo team is electrified by five straight victories. Meanwhile, Phil's body was reaching its limit. Round 11. Shinjo finally returns from Union Saver to Cyber Formula. With his rival back, not only Hayato but Kaga too has his fighting spirit lit. That night at the reception, Nagumo approaches Hayato and says that Hayato's father and his own brother once developed Asurada together, and that the Alzard was born from the Asurada project. Whereas Asurada, conceived by his father Hiroyuki, was 'something that grows together through communication between the Cyber System and the driver,' the Alzard was developed from Nagumo's brother's proposal of 'fusing with the human brain using a biocomputer as the medium.' Learning that Alzard and Asurada are sibling machines born of the same project, Hayato is stunned. Exploiting that opening, Nagumo kidnaps him.
